Workers' Compensation total disability awards integrate with monthly Social Security Disability Awards. Injured workers in New Jersey may receive both benefits simultaneously. "

Since we have various systems of social insurances which are non-integrated, it is possible for a worker to receive benefits under a workers' compensation program as well as Social Security disability benefits under the Social Security Act. In New Jersey, the workers' compensation system is financed exclusively by employers; whereas the Social Security system is financed by both employers and employees. In order to receive Social Security disability benefits, an employee must build equity in the program, thereby establishing his eligibility for disability payments. 20 C.F.R. Pt. 404."
