Dr. Salgia summarized efforts from his group to bring
mathematical modeling to the study of
malignant mesothelioma and how the rules of this theory can be applied to consideration of mutations associated with mesothelioma, suggesting that
DNA acts much likes
fractals. He emphasized that the fractal
dimensionality of mesothelioma
cells is dramatically different from that of normal cells and that mitochondrial networks in mesothelioma can also be modeled with
fractal analysis.
