NJ Governor Murphy Signs Executive Order Extending Public Health Emergency

Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 186. The Order extends the Public Health Emergency that was declared on March 9, 2020 through Executive Order No. 103, which was previously extended on April 7, May 6, June 4, July 2, August 1, and August 27. Under the Emergency Health Powers Act, a declared public health emergency expires after 30 days unless renewed.

NJ Governor Patrick Murphy Signs Landmark COVID Compensation Law

Today, NJ Governor Patrick Murphy signed legislation enacting sweeping measures to provide workers’ compensation benefits to essential workers who contract coronavirus [COVID-19] and provides dependency benefits to their survivors.

Watered down NJ supplemental benefits heads to the Governor


A watered-down version of the original NJ supplemental workers’ compensation benefits bill has been approved by the Legislature. It now heads to the NJ Governor Murphy for review.

NJ Will Not Adopt the IAIABC Model Rule on Electronic Billing

The NJ Department of Labor and Workplace Development [DLWD] has adopted Rules regarding electronic medical billing in workers' compensation matter that do not follow the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commission's [IAIABC] Model Rule. The NJ DLWD has decided to accept the ASC X12 837 [ASC] standard only.
