Bill Proposes to Increase Benefits for Some Injured Workers and Dependents

Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia filed legislation to institute additional workers' compensation supplemental benefits on June 13, 2024, and Assemblyman Inganamort co-sponsored it.

Another Class of Benefits Proposed for Workers’ Compensation

The NJ Legislature is considering expanding the multitiered program to compensate the victims of industrial illness. This time a supplemental benefit program is being offered to compensate healthcare workers who contracted COVID-19.

Governor Conditionally Vetoes NJ Supplemental Benefits Bill

The NJ supplemental workers' compensation bill has been conditional vetoed by NJ Governor Murphy. In the conditional veto message the Governor notes that the legislation's unintended consequences would jeopardize NJ's "reverse offset," shift the cost responsibility and not provide an economic benefit to the injured workers. The NJ Senate then took action.

Watered down NJ supplemental benefits heads to the Governor


A watered-down version of the original NJ supplemental workers’ compensation benefits bill has been approved by the Legislature. It now heads to the NJ Governor Murphy for review.

NJ Senate Passes Increase to Supplemental Benefits for Injured Workers

The NJ Senate adopted legislation (S.1967) to increase supplemental benefits to certain injured workers receiving workers' compensation. On October 29, 2018 the NJ Senate voted (26-12) to pass the legislation. The Assembly version A3635 awaits action.
